On Friday, 9 May 2025, the Rector of UYI, Professor Remy Magloire Etoua, inaugurated the facility in the auditorium of the National Advanced School of Engineering, Yaounde, in the presence of Mr Knut Zucham, representative of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Cameroon.
This initiative, led by Serge Padjip and Robert Makon, representatives of the German company ROHDE & SCHWARZ, aims to contribute significantly to the practical training of young engineers at ENSPY. The project is based on an industry/university partnership and will help top students to undergopractical training within the company in Germany.
The lab is equipped with 10 high-performance workstations, each comprising a stabilized NHC804XDC power supply, a stabilized NGE1008DC power supply, anNHC 8012digital multimetre, anHML2525random or arbitrary function generator, anFPC1500spectrum analyser, a vector network analyser, anFPC710pedagogical kit, software, cables and a high-speed computer with 16 GHz processing power.
In his welcome address, Professor Raoul Domingo Ayissi, Director of ENSPY, warmly thanked the German company ROHDE & SCHWARZ, “which has generously donated equipment valued at 224 000 000 (two hundred and twenty-four million) CFA francs,” and emphasized that “this gesture aligns with a vision of knowledge sharing, elite training and promotion of scientific excellence.”
Professor Ekam, the project focal point, added that ENSPY will now ensure optimal visibility for this privileged sponsor, whose contribution crowns four decades of relentless effort.
In his inaugural address, Professor Remy Magloire Etoua, Rector of the University of Yaounde I, stated as follows: “This event marks a significant milestone in the history of ENSPY in particular, and of UYI in general.” He further noted that thegesturewill strengthen not only UYI’s teaching facilities but also the Germany/Cameroon cooperationin the areas of higher education and scientific research.
The assembly then moved to the laboratory for the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony and a technical tour of the equipment offered by ROHDE & SCHWARZ, amid cheers and joyful shouts from students expressing their gratitude to the donor and the UYI top management.
