The University of Yaounde I (UYI), ranked among the leading institutions,
focuses its activities on addressing Cameroon’s economic and social
challenges. Support for the UYI’s development focuses on infrastructure
modernization, digitalization and employability. With a 2026 budget of nearly
15 billion CFA francs, it funds laboratories, digital libraries and
entrepreneurship, while bolstering research to support Cameroon’s socio-
economic development
Key areas of development support
- Infrastructure Modernization: Development of lecture halls, modern
laboratories and digital libraries for mass education
- Digital Transformation: Implementation of a Digital Workspace (DW),
online pre-registration and digitization of administrative documents
- Research and Innovation: Support for scientific projects, including at the
Biotechnology Centre (BTC) and the Research and Development
Support Unit (RDSU), with a focus on local solutions
- Employability: Promoting entrepreneurship through business incubators
and university-industry partnerships
- Training and Networking: Introducing new certifications (e.g.
behavioural sciences) and capacity building in land governance through
the NELGA network
- The Integrated Agro-Pastoral Import Substitution Plan (PIISAH)
