Training Areas
The University of Yaounde offers a multidisciplinary range of courses in the
three main fields listed below.
The Arts, Letters and Languages department offers a rich and diversified
programme of study focused on understanding cultures, societies and human
expression. It seeks to develop students’ skills in communication, critical
analysis, research and inter-cultural awareness.
It encompasses a number of disciplines, including Languages (English,
German, Spanish), Anthropology, Arts and Archaeology, Geography, History,
Linguistics, Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology, Modern Letters, as well as
Tourism and Hospitality, thereby offering a wide range of academic and career
paths.
The Human and Social Sciences department trains specialists capable of
analysing, understanding and supporting social, educational, economic and
political dynamics. It develops skills in research, social work, management and
support for organizations and communities.
It includes Educational Sciences (Educational Administration, Educational
Counselling, Special Needs Education), Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology,
Geography, History and Philosophy.
This field offers programmes focused on scientific research, technological innovation and the development of strategic professional skills.
It comprises the Faculty of Science (FS), covering the fundamental disciplines (Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth Sciences); the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (FMBS); as well as institutions of higher learning and specialized institutes such as the National Advanced Polytechnic School Yaounde (NAPSY), the Advanced Teachers Training College (ENS) and the University Institute of Wood Technology (IUT- Bois), which train engineers, teachers and technical experts.
