- Admission to the first year is generally based on a written competitive entrance examination.
- In addition to Mbalmayo, examination centres are often open in Yaounde, Douala, Buea, Bamenda, Bertoua and Ngaoundere.

University of Yaounde I (UYI): Nkolbisson campus
- Missions: To promote scientific excellence, support policy-making and conduct cutting-edge research.
- Research areas: Plant and animal biotechnology, human immune responses, tropical disease pathogens and vector control.
- Facilities: The centre houses laboratories that specialize in molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry and public health biotechnology.
- Healthcare role: It served as a diagnostic centre, particularly during health crises.
- Domestic and international research: CBT also houses the Faculty of Science’s research units and is part of the UYI University Research Network.
