Thriving at UYI Through Culture
Cultural life at the University of Yaoundé I (UYI) is gaining momentum with the creation of the “Univers Cité Culture” space MAJESTIC UNIVERSITY OF YAOUNDE I launched in early 2025 and officially inaugurated on February 27, 2026, under the chairmanship of Jacques FAME NDONGO, Minister of State and Minister of Higher Education. A new creative hub for students, managed in partnership with the Association of Cameroonian Cultural and Creative Industries (ACTICCC). The institution also promotes a culture of assessment and entrepreneurship, supported by initiatives such as those of UNICEF. Some key points:
- New Cultural Center : Bolloré’s former Canal Olympia site has been converted into a multidisciplinary cultural center dedicated to education and artistic expression.
- Student Life : Promoting a culture of assessment (more than 300 participants in roadshows).
- Development : Collaboration with the Association of Cultural and Creative Industries in Cameroon (ACTICCC) to help young creators develop their professional skills.
These initiatives aim to make the UYI a hub for the creative economy in Cameroon.
