As part of its research support policy, the UYI awards various grants to faculty members each year for teacher training, reimbursement of photocopying costs, research assignments, preparation for and participation in the CAMES certification exam, publication of scientific works, and funding for scientific conferences.
To improve and diversify its educational offerings and ensure a qualified teaching staff, the UYI has, for the past decade, been supporting faculty members in completing their doctoral dissertations and Habilitations à Diriger les Recherches (HDR) theses. This support has resulted in the establishment of the Training of Trainers program, which has its own dedicated budget line. Each year, the UYI’s Scientific Committee for Research and Cooperation selects faculty members from all institutions based on departmental recommendations and institutional needs. Thanks to this program, the number of tenured faculty members has increased substantially across all disciplines. The number of lecturers has increased fivefold, rising from approximately fifty ten years ago to more than two hundred and forty.
For several years now, the UYI has been home to a subregional center for preparation for the CAMES teacher certification exam..
