To ensure the comparability of courses and compliance with the Bachelor’s-
Master’s-Doctorate (BMD) system, courses at the University of Yaounde I are
organized into 3 (three) cycles, with the exception of Faculty of Medicine and
Biological Sciences (FMBS):
- the Bachelor’s degree programme, which lasts 6 (six) semesters, leads
to a Bachelor’s degree;
- the Master’s programme, lasting 4 (four) semesters and divided into
First Year and Second Year, leads to a Master’s degree;
- the PhD programme, which also lasts 6 (six) semesters, leads to a PhD
degree;
It should be noted that all these programmes have a professional and an
academic pathway. Thus, each qualification may be either professional or
academic, as appropriate
