Structuring research is important for building research capacity, working as a
team and complementing one another’s work, thus establishing excellence.
Research at the University of Yaounde I (UYI) is integrated into the Bachelor’s-
Master’s-Doctorate system, with research-oriented Master’s degrees and PhD
programmes overseen by Research and Doctoral Training Centres (CRFDs)
or doctoral schools. Research activities are managed by faculty and inter-
faculty research units, which bring together researchers working on specific
and promising research topics, with a view to pooling resources
