Yaounde, the political capital of Cameroon, hosted the official opening of the Majestic Cinema complex at the University of Yaounde I on Friday, 27 February 2026

 

This landmark project forms part of a wider drive to develop cultural infrastructure and promote the film industry in Central Africa. It demonstrates a clear commitment to bringing cultural activities closer to academic institutions and young people.

 

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures from government services and institutions, including the Rector of the University of Yaounde I, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education and the Director General of Majestic Cinéma Cameroun

 

The evening was interspersed with official speeches and artistic performances, amid a corporate dinner that provided a forum for partners, decision-makers and guests to mingle

 

The inauguration marked a strategic milestone in Majestic Cinema’s positioning as a key player in cultural, educational and economic development
